US House passes $45B Ukraine aid package, defying Russia’s veto threat

**WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a $45 billion aid package for Ukraine, defying Russia’s threat to view such a move as a provocation that could lead to a wider conflict.**

The Democratic-controlled House voted 368-57 in favor of the measure, with all but 10 Republicans joining all Democrats in support. The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to pass with bipartisan support.

The aid package includes $13.6 billion in humanitarian assistance, $8.5 billion to replenish U.S. weapons stockpiles sent to Ukraine, and $3.5 billion for military financing for Ukraine’s military.
