China’s largest jetliner C919 to make global debut at airshow

China’s first domestically built large passenger aircraft, the C919, will make its global debut at the upcoming airshow in Zhuhai, South China’s Guangdong Province, its developer said Wednesday.

The biennial Airshow China, scheduled for Nov. 11-16, is one of the world’s top three aerospace and aviation exhibitions. It will feature more than 740 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions this year.

The C919, developed by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), is a narrow-body passenger jet designed to compete with the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.

The plane has a maximum capacity of 168 passengers and a range of 5,555 kilometers (3,451 miles). It has received 815 orders from 28 customers worldwide, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and ICBC Leasing.

COMAC plans to deliver the first batch of C919s to China Eastern Airlines by the end of this year. The aircraft is expected to enter commercial service in early 2023.

The C919 is a significant milestone for China’s aviation industry. It is the first time that China has developed and built a large passenger aircraft that meets international standards.

The aircraft is expected to boost China’s aerospace industry and help the country to become a major player in the global aviation market.

In addition to the C919, COMAC is also developing the ARJ21 regional jet and the CR929 wide-body passenger jet. The ARJ21 has already entered commercial service, and the CR929 is expected to make its first flight in 2025.

China’s aviation industry is growing rapidly. The country is expected to become the world’s largest aviation market by 2035. The development of the C919 and other domestically built aircraft is a key part of China’s plans to meet the growing demand for air travel.

The Airshow China will provide a platform for COMAC to showcase the C919 and other Chinese-developed aircraft to the world. The airshow is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors, including industry professionals, government officials, and members of the public.

The C919’s global debut at the Airshow China is a major milestone for China’s aviation industry. It is a testament to the country’s growing capabilities in aerospace and aviation..
